Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy, or Physical Therapy, is a health care profession carried out by Physiotherapists to remedy impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.


Physiotherapists are trained and licensed in the country of registration to examine, evaluate, diagnose and treat impairments, functional limitations and disabilities in patients or clients.

Physiotherapists can work in the following:


  • Healthcare institutions
  • Hospitals
  • Day rehabilitation centres
  • Hospices
  • Private clinics
  • Nursing homes
  • Special schools
  • Sports Associations, Council and school
  • Sports clubs

Physiotherapy

In Singapore, in order to be practise as a Physiotherapist, the candidate must apply Practising Certificate from the AHPC* with the relevant qualifications i.e a degree in Physiotherapy from a recognised University overseas or a Diploma in Physiotherapy in Nanyang Polytechnic.


Graduates from Nanyang Polytechnic can continue to upgrade to a Bachelor degree by undertaking the Diploma to Degree Top up course. Since 2002, we have helped many Physiotherapists further their education overseas.      

The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) is a professional board under the Ministry of Health which governs and regulates the professional conduct and ethics of registered allied health professionals, in accordance to the Allied Health Professions Act 2011.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy, is a health care profession that uses daily activities to facilitating independent living & improve the quality of life of people who have physical disabilities, mental of social difficulties due to accident, ageing, illness or genetics / birth.


As an occupational therapist, you will work with patient & customize a treatment programme based on individual's needs & preference. Services are varies, including: consultation, offer assistive devices, creating an activity to improve the movement techniques.

Optometry

Optometry is a course that prepare you to have a profession as eye care practicioners who provide eye care services such as visual examination & prescription to solve vision problem. As an optometrist, you will be able to diagnose, manage diseases, injuries & other vision disorders.

Podiatry

Podiatrist is a health-care professional / qualified physician to diagnose & treat foot, ankle or any leg structure-related conditions. There are a broad ranges of varieties that you can choose as a specialization when pursuing degree as a Podiatrist such as: surgery, orthopedics or public health. Some podiatrist also pursue a career related to sport medicine, dermatology, radiology, or diabetic foot care.
